Make sure there is a student exchange agreement between your home department of studies and the University of Strasbourg. Contact your home university's international relations office to learn more about admission, deadlines and the application process.

Yes, you should enrol both in your home University and in Strasbourg.
There are two main steps to enrolment in Strasbourg: administrative enrolment and course registration.
You will be registered as a fee-exempt non-degree exchange student.
We strongly advise that you contact the International Relations Office to get more details about the process.

You do not need a visa if you are from an EU country. If you are not from the EU and are staying in France for more than three months, you will need a Long Stay Visa (Visa Long Séjour). During your first three months with us, you will need to sort out administrative formalities at the French Office for Immigration and Integration (OFII).

Registering for social security is mandatory for all students. It takes place at the same time as your administrative enrolment.

  • If you are from the EU, registration is free. You should apply for the European Health Insurance Card before departure and present it to the local health insurance office in Strasbourg
  • If you are from a Non-EU country, registration costs €211 for the whole academic year. You should register with student social security and take out a responsabilité civile (the latter is often included in your home insurance).
