Key words

Condensed matter – Materials – Polymers – Supramolecular chemistry – Polymers physics and chemistry – Functional material and biomaterial

Overview

The Institute was founded in 1954 to research on polymers, which was a growing industry at the time. Today, the Institute is engaged in interdisciplinary research at the crossroads of chemistry and materials physics.

Research focus

The institute is composed of 7 research teams:

  • Theory and simulation of polymers
  • Membranes and microforces
  • Physics-mechanics and tribology of polymers
  • Organised molecular and macromolecular complex systems
  • Polyelectrolytes, complexes and materials
  • Supramolecular chemistry and self-assemblies
  • Precision macromolecular chemistry
